Introduction

Welcome to Smith's Trout Haven, a peaceful, family-friendly campground just one mile west of Lava Hot Springs. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway, a family reunion, or an extended camping trip, you'll enjoy a relaxing atmosphere with spacious grassy areas, quiet surroundings, and plenty of room for everyone to unwind. We offer 60 RV sites with electrical hookups, 14 tent sites, and 4 group sites.

Our campground is designed for families who value a clean, peaceful camping experience. Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM and are strictly enforced to ensure restful nights for all our guests. As part of our commitment to maintaining this welcoming atmosphere, Smith's Trout Haven is an alcohol-free and pet-free campground. Water spigots are conveniently located near the entrance, and portable restrooms are available throughout the campground.

Children will love our two playgrounds, expansive grassy fields, and our stocked rainbow trout pond, where anglers of all ages can enjoy fishing. While you'll appreciate the tranquility of the countryside, you're still just minutes from the swimming pools, hot springs, restaurants, and attractions of Lava Hot Springs.

Smith's Trout Haven is open each year from the Thursday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. We look forward to welcoming you for a memorable camping experience.

Directions

Smith's Trout Haven is located a little over a mile west of downtown Lava Hot Springs on Main St. The name of the road changes to Maughan Rd as you pass the Fire station. You will travel straight west. When the road makes an "S" curve, you are almost there. Just past the curve, you will see a bright yellow building and a sign on the left side of the road.

Campground Rules

Alcohol

  • No alcoholic beverages of any type are allowed in the campground.
  • If anyone in your party is found to have alcohol, or displays any signs of intoxication, your entire group will be required to leave.
  • No refunds will be issued.

Pet Policy

  • Pets are not permitted.

Arrival and Departure

  • Checkin is between the hours of 1:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
  • Checkout time is noon. If you need to stay later, please make arrangements with us the day before departure.

Etiquette

  • Be respectful of staff and other guests.
  • Quiet hours are 10:00 PM–7:00 AM.
  • No visitors are allowed after 10:00 PM.

Cleanliness

  • Don't leave trash in the campground. Use trash cans by the entrance.
  • Take out any wood you bring in.
  • Campfires only in fire pits and NO bonfires.
  • Do not burn anything other than wood that is free of nails and screws.

Safety

  • Don't leave campfires unattended.
  • Children should have adult supervision by the ponds and creek.
  • No one is allowed near the ponds after dusk.
  • The speed limit is 10 mph.
  • No driving recreational vehicles around the campground.

Cancellation Policy

A deposit equal to 50% of your total cost will be charged to your credit card at the time you make your reservation. If you need to cancel your reservation, please call 208-254-2013 no less than 1 week before the first day of your reservation. If cancellation is made in time, your deposit will be refunded less a $10 cancellation fee. Cancellations made after the deadline will result in forfeiture of all deposits.

Fishing Rules/Fees

  • No license required.
  • No catch and release.
  • No fishing on Sunday.
  • $0.50 per inch
  • $5.00 per pound (When above 2 lbs.)

Late Fees

  • Checkout is by 12:00 noon
  • 12:00 - 4:00 PM $5 fee
  • 4:00 - 7:00 PM $10 fee
  • After 7:00 PM Full cost
